To make a new LMNucleus CMS installation, use the install procedure. If you have a Nucleus CMS or LMNucleus CMS installation you want to upgrade, use the upgrade procedure.

Install

To make a new LMNucleus CMS installation you have to do the following.

  • Unpack the LMNucleus CMS package in a temporary directory.
  • Open the readme.html file to view the LMNucleus CMS Manual.
  • Copying the files and directories from the temporary directory to your web server.
  • Adjust file and directory permissions.
    • If you want the config.php file to be generated automatically, make the config.php file writable by the web server process.
    • If you want to be able to upload files, set the media directory writable by the web server process.
    • If you want to be able to use the SkinFiles plugin to edit files, make the skins directory and subdirectories (including files) writable by the web server process.
  • Open the following page in your LMNucleus CMS installation in a browser: http://www.yoursite.com/yourpath/install.php. Adjust yoursite and yourpath according to your LMNucleus installation. This install-script will prompt you for some information, and perform most of the installation for you.
  • Adjust file permissions on the config.php to make the file not writable by the web server.
  • Remove the files you don't need after the installation.The suggested files and directories to remove are:
    • Install files: install.php, install.sql and install_lang_english.php.
    • Upgrade directory: nucleus/upgrades.

You have now installed LMNucleus CMS.

Upgrade

To upgrade an existing LMNucleus CMS installation you have to do the following. The upgrade process is equal if you upgrade from Nucleus CMS.

  • Take a backup of your current LMNucleus CMS installation. Both files and mysql database.
  • Unpack the LMNucleus CMS package in a temporary directory.
  • Remove the files you don't need or don't want to overwrite in the upgrade from the temporary directory. The suggested files and directories to remove are:
    • Install files: install.php, install.sql and install_lang_english.php.
    • Configuration file: config.php and config.php.sample.
    • Media directory: media.
    • Skin directory: skins.
    • PHP files you have updated for LMFancierURL: index.php, xml-rss2.php and atom.php.
    • Search robots exclusion file: robots.txt
    • Form template files you have customized: nucleus/forms/
  • Copying the remaining files and directories from the temporary directory to your current LMNucleus CMS installation.
  • Go the following page in your LMNucleus CMS installation: http://www.yoursite.com/yourpath/nucleus/upgrades/index.php. Adjust yoursite and yourpath according to your LMNucleus installation. If any database upgrades are needed will you be prompted to execute the upgrade. The database upgrade itself is automatically, but there may be some manual operations needed. If any manual operations is needed will these be described.
  • Delete the nucleus/upgrades directory after you have executed the upgrades.

You have now upgraded LMNucleus CMS.
